RHBA-2004:501 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
Updated rpm package
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated rpm package that allows concurrent rpmdb access is now available.
Description
The RPM Package Manager (RPM) is a powerful command line driven package
management system capable of installing, uninstalling, verifying, querying,
and updating software packages. Each software package consists of an
archive of files along with information about the package like its version,
a description, and other items.
On certain platforms, concurrent rpm access is either deadlocking or
segfaulting. Upgrading to db-4.2.52 internally to rpm, and using posix
mutexes for locking fixed the issue.
Users of rpm should upgrade to this updated package, which resolves this issue.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat
