Advisory: RHBA-2004:476-06
Type: Bug Fix Advisory
Severity: N/A
Issued on: 2004-12-13
Last updated on: 2004-12-13
Affected Products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS (v. 2.1)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES (v. 2.1)

Red Hat Linux Advanced Workstation 2.1 for the Itanium Processor

Details

Updated rusers packages that use the recommended /proc file for disk usage
data are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1.

The rusers program allows users to find out who is logged into machines on
the local network. The rusers command produces output similar to who, but
for the specified list of hosts or for all machines on the local network.
The rusers-server package contains the server for responding to rusers
requests.

The original version of the rstatd server used the 2.2 kernel interface in
/proc to gather data for disk usage. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 is based
on the 2.4 kernel, which provides a new interface in /proc for disk usage
data. An updated rusers package now contains a fix that uses the new interface.

All users of rusers should upgrade to these updated packages, which
resolve this issue.
