RHBA-2004:461 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
Updated VNC packages
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated VNC packages that fix several crash bugs are now available.
Description
Virtual Network Computing (VNC) is a remote display system which
allows you to view a computing 'desktop' environment not only on the
machine where it is running, but from anywhere on the Internet and
from a wide variety of machine architectures.
The following two situations that could cause the Xvnc program to crash
have been identified and fixed:
- A new cursor shape is sent to the client, but its hotspot is outside the
visible rectangle.
- The "cfb" framebuffer engine now uses the newer "fb" engine.
All users of VNC should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve
these issues.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat
