DetailsRed Hat Linux 7.2 shipped with perl 5.6.0. This errata updates that Perl 5.6.0 contains a number of bugs fixed in the latest release, Perl SolutionBefore applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied. Note that the new package dependencies require special procedures to upgrade existing Perl installations. It is not sufficient to use the "freshen" mode of RPM; instead, it is necessary to use the "upgrade" mode. To perform the update for your particular architecture, run: rpm -Uvh [filenames] where [filenames] is the list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. It is required that both the core perl RPM and the four new associated perl modules be installed simultaneously, which means there should be five filenames listed on the above command line. Note that you can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the desired RPMs. Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network, launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command: up2date This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate RPMs being upgraded on your system.
