Bug Fix Advisory New emacs packages are available for Red Hat Linux 7

Advisory: RHBA-2000:091-04
Type: Bug Fix Advisory
Severity: N/A
Issued on: 2000-10-20
Last updated on: 2000-10-20
Affected Products: Red Hat Linux 7.0
OVAL: N/A

Details

The emacs-nox package included in Red Hat Linux 7 needed the locale.alias
file from XFree86. Also, the initialization of python mode has been fixed.

2000-10-19: Instructions for dealing with changed site-start.el files added

The emacs-nox program tried to open /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/locale/locale.alias,
which would fail if XFree86 wasn't installed. Also, python mode wasn't
properly initalized in the site-start.el file.

Solution

For each RPM for your particular architecture, run:

rpm -Fvh [filename]

where filename is the name of the RPM.

If the previous /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/site-start.el had been changed,
you will end up with a /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/site-start.el.rpmnew.
To apply the fix, do

cp /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/site-start.el.rpmnew
/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/site-start.el

(all on the same line)
