Details

sysstat, the package which provides the sar and iostat facilities, provides
an invalid crontab entry in Red Hat Linux 7.0. This causes the I/O
summaries to never get updated.

2001-01-17: crontab errors fully corrected.

sysstat is a package provided starting with with Red Hat Linux 7.0. It
provides the sar and iostat commands, which allow a system administrator to
keep tabs on a systems' input/output statistics.

To generate reports of daily activity, several entries are added to the
system's crontab entry. These entries were formatted incorrectly as
shipped. These entries have been corrected, and moved from the root user's
crontab into scripts contained in the /etc/cron.daily and /etc/cron.hourly
directories.

Additionally, support for iostat's -p and -l command line arguments was
disabled. These arguments are now supported.
